Fun with Scholastic News!

Image
Hello Families! I hope you're having a great Monday. Last week we read two Scholastic News articles about the fall. The students really enjoyed this activity and its interactive components. I first project each article on the whiteboard and then as we read I have the students each come up to the board to point out specific objects, numbers, count, compare sizes and utilize new vocabulary introduced. The students then break off to complete their individual articles where they first determine "what" the article is out of a field of three choices. Next, they summarize the page by pasting on a picture to represent each new "fact". Some friends also use objects to represent details within the article.  Have a great day! Megan

Community Helper Fun!

Hello Families!! Hope you're having a great week! I wanted to share with you what we did last two weeks at school! We had a great and hands on art class thanks to our fabulous teacher, Ms. Miller! She made fun sorting cup sharks for the students to do when they finished their work. The kids loved the fun hands on activity. Some friends were able to sort visually while others used the sense of smell while sorting! Last week we learned about police officers! The kids really enjoyed the activities and the multisensory activities and reading. Each day we complete a different activity centered around our community helpers such as: sorting/identifying tools that they use, BINGO letter ID/first letter of the community helper, adapted books, and a wheel that tells the important facts about the helper.  In celebrations of the last beam to be put on the new addition, the students were able to sign their names onto the beam before it was installed! Have a great day!! Miss Feeley
